Tottenham debate: Who is Spurs second best player?
Eriksen wins out (slightly)
In the end, it’s Eriksen’s ability to lift his teammates up that earns him the slight victory. Dele is a terrific player and is a superior talent, but his single-minded playing style drops him just below the classy Dane.
As I mentioned before, I’d love to see Eriksen find a way to put an entire season together. It must be said that his periods of drought are counterbalanced with periods of white-hot form as well. The classy Dane is in the midst of one of those runs as we speak.
In regards to his lack of physicality, that’s a bit overstated. Yes, I’d like to see him stop ducking out of 50/50 challenges but that’s not my first priority for a number ten. In the end, he runs his socks off for the squad and gets more than his share of interceptions.

Dele Alli will become the second best player out of the current group of Spurs sooner or later. I just don’t think he’s ascended to that level quite yet. The changing of the guard could happen before this season’s over, but right now, Christian Eriksen is the second best player on Tottenham’s squad.
