Christian Eriksen-7

It was good to see Eriksen back on the pitch for Spurs, but it wasn’t his best outing. He got in plenty of dangerous areas with the ball, but he was unable to produce either a goal or assist for his club.

It might seem a bit unfair to hold him to that sort of expectation, but that’s just the sort of player he is. He has the talent to contribute to scoring chances every time out. Spurs had enough possession for Eriksen to tangibly harm Huddersfield. Since he didn’t, he gets a good, but not great, player rating for his efforts.

Dele Alli-6.5

Football is a game of fine margins. If Dele’s second half effort had slid in the net after hitting the post then his rating would have likely increased by a full point. As it stands, it was a slightly below average performance for the talented Englishman.

The most egregious moment of his match was his absurd dive in the second half. He was properly punished with a yellow card and it was just a foolish play by Dele. Spurs were already ahead 3-0 and an opportunity from the penalty spot wouldn’t have done anything to change the match’s complexion. Dele must play smarter if he wants to achieve his full potential.
