Harry Kane-9

Even the most eloquent pundits are running out of superlatives for Tottenham’s star centre forward. Perhaps it’s telling that I only gave him a 9 after he score a brace with two wonderful finishes.

His first goal was the product of an outstanding run and clinical finish. It showed that he isn’t just a target man or poacher. Kane is the complete modern-day forward.

Kane’s second goal was even better for my money. He hit a world-class striker with his weaker foot that left the keeper no chance to keep the ball out of the back of the net. It was as good of a goal as you’ll see all weekend.

More from Playing for 90

This wasn’t Kane’s best match, but he was still excellent. Only Davies’ masterful showing keeps him from receiving my Man of the Match Award.

Hugo Lloris-7.5

The French keeper did everything that was asked of him during this match. He made two above-average saves and his distribution of the ball was perfectly adequate. Lloris seems to be rounding into form at the right time for Spurs.

Moussa Sissoko-6

The real headline for Sissoko’s performance will be his possible goal late in the match. It looked to me that his shot was heading on target before it was deflected, but I could see it being ruled an own goal as well.

Aside from that, he did an adequate job of harassing the opposition for 20 minutes or so. He did suffer one pitiful giveaway that set Huddersfield free on the break, but it didn’t come back to haunt him. Let’s hope he gets credit for the goal to help him play a bit more free in the final third moving forward.

Kyle Walker-Peters-6

I would have preferred to see him take Davies’ spot on the left to give the Welshman some rest, but instead he made a late cameo in place of Trippier. He didn’t do anything to distinguish himself but he played solid defense. Walker-Peters continues to look like a player who deserves more and more meaningful playing time.

Son Heung-Min-5.5

Son came on very late in relief of Harry Kane and didn’t get a chance to contribute very much. He’ll need another opportunity to erase the bad taste of his APOEL performance out of his mouth.
