Mesut Ozil on track to join Manchester United
By Evan Siegel
Mesut Ozil and Manchester United could use each other. Now that Ozil may be looking to leave Arsenal, this dream move may just happen.
Mesut Ozil’s career is at a crossroads. The twenty-eight-year-old has taken on a reputation of being somewhat of a contract rebel, as his days at Arsenal are looking increasingly numbered. Ozil’s contract is up at the end of the season, freeing him to talk to other teams who hope to sign him.
According to ESPN FC, Ozil is demanding $350,000 a week, while the Gunners are only willing to offer $275,000 a week. Inter Milan and Manchester United have so far expressed the most interest in the German attacking midfielder, who could both use a jolt to their attack.
While Inter Milan are clearly passionate about trying to bring in Ozil, Manchester United are traditionally in a better way in terms of adding players of their desire financially. This suggests an internal move within the Premier League appears more likely.
Bleacher Report has reported that United is preparing to offer Ozil a pre-contract as his extension talks with Arsenal continue to go nowhere faster and faster. Jose Mourinho is quite a fan of Ozil, and has remarked that he is “Highly confident” of signing Ozil.
Ozil and Mourinho worked together while they both were at Real Madrid. A reunion would serve both sides well as united’s attack slowly becomes more and more powerful. The sharp attacking mind that is Jose Mourinho could do wonders with someone he is familiar with like Ozil.

Some consider Ozil one of the world’s finest at his position, while many critics say he is inconsistent and cannot be relied on to consistently set up and ultimately score goals. The German initially signed with Real Madrid for $43 million.
Ozil may feel especially comfortable and willing to make the move to Real Madrid considering his previous work with Mourinho. At this stage in his career, Ozil is correct in looking for a new beginning as his days at Arsenal have been too taxing on his mind.
With World cup qualifiers underway and the tournament itself less than a year away, Ozil’s focus is also being sucked up internationally by Joakim Low. Germany will need his services in the midfield as Miroslav Klose is no longer there to be the difference in Germany’s attack.

A move to Manchester United is looking likely for Ozil. A reunion with Jose Mourinho would be the best case scenario for both sides. A comfortable coach who knows his players is what can push United over the top and back into the driver’s seat for the Premiership title.
