These five Tottenham stars aren’t living up to their reputations

Tottenham are blessed to have a very talented squad, but not every Spur is quite as good as the club’s passionate fan base seems to think they are. It doesn’t mean they are bad players. It just means that fan opinion exceeds their actual performance level on the pitch.

The rationale for these players being overrated is varied. Some might be held in too high regard because they’re English, while others have been long-term servants of the club. No matter what the reasoning, Tottenham fans need to tone down their opinions.

You may be surprised to learn that several members of Mauricio Pochettino’s normal starting XI will find themselves on this list. It’s easy to claim that fringe players are overrated. It’s quite another matter to place such a label on a valuable starter.

Inevitably, many of you will disagree with one or more of the names on this list. I encourage you to document your discontent in the comments section below. Let’s keep it respectful though. Remember, this isn’t a personal attack on any Tottenham player. This is simply a commentary on players who aren’t quite as good as most people seem to think. Read on to discover the club’s five most overrated stars.
