Tottenham’s five most overrated players- Several big name Spurs on the list
3. Son Heung-Min
The talented Korean attacker has endeared himself to Tottenham fans with his infectious smile and penchant for scoring goals. Unfortunately, when he doesn’t put the ball in the back of the net, he doesn’t do much for Pochettino’s squad.
If we’re honest with ourselves, Son is a luxury player. He really doesn’t fit Pochettino’s ideal player type. Perhaps it’s a result of his slight frame, but it seems to also be a product of his lack of physical toughness. Son just doesn’t want to get himself involved in any physical scraps.
Again, this doesn’t mean Son isn’t an important member of the squad. It’s very important to have players on the bench who can come in matches and contribute important goals. That’s something Son can do at an above average level.
What he cannot do, however, is hold down a consistent place in Pochettino’s starting XI. Those precious spots are reserved for players who contribute mightily on both ends of the pitch. Son’s limited defensive talents will keep him a bench player for the foreseeable future.
