1. Harry Winks

The young Englishman thoroughly deserved his call-up to the England squad this week. He was the best option available to Gareth Southgate who can reasonably be expected to contribute to the team over the long haul.

He still doesn’t enjoy the level of accolades he receives from Spurs fans via social media. Calling him “little Iniesta” is an insult to the Barcelona ace. Winks isn’t fit to carry his boots at this point in his young career.

There’s a reason he doesn’t find himself in Pochettino’s starting XI on a regular basis. He doesn’t have the offensive flair to play in the attacking midfield nor is his body quite ready to withstand 90 minutes of pressure in the double-pivot. Winks is a man in between positions at this point.

Again, he does have real value to the squad. He’s really well-suited to come on late in matches and help Tottenham see out tight matches. Winks’ ability to move the ball quickly is a real asset for Pochettino’s club.

Harry Winks is a good player, but it’s time for the Spurs hype machine to slow it down. He has a long way to go before he becomes an above average Premier League starter.
