Right Back: Antonio Valencia

This was one of the toughest decisions. There are three player in contention. Two young English stars for Liverpool and the old man Antonio Valencia. Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have both performed admirably for the Reds this season in the absence of Nathaniel Clyne.

Gomez has been the utility defender for Liverpool, playing games at right back, center back and left back in his time at the club. He is most naturally a center back and looks like one when he plays full back albeit without major weakness or flaw.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also pretty new to the position but has taken it like a duck to proverbial water. His performances have been a highlight is a disappointing start to the season for Kopites. He crowned his debut Champions League performance with a stunning goal from a free kick.

Antonio Valencia knows all about adopting the right back role. He has moved into defense over the last three seasons and been one of their most consistent players. There have been signs this year that the 32-year-old is starting to wane. Yet he still represents a better option than either of the Liverpool youngsters. Give it a year and we’ll see though!
