Klopp hasn’t been great for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has seen more than his fair share of criticism since his appointment at Liverpool. While Liverpool’s improvement under Klopp has been obvious, their defense is often the subject of backlash, and given their failure to remedy the situation, critics have pointed the figure at the German.

Some will even go as far as to claim that Liverpool were better off under former manager Brendan Rodgers and that Liverpool’s confidence in Klopp is a mistake. And they do have the statistics to back their view.

The Mirror reports that after 73 league matches, Rodger’s Liverpool picked up 41 victories, whereas Klopp’s side have won only 37. Rodgers won 141 points with Liverpool in these 73 matches, while Klopp has won 132. On the goal scoring and win percentage fronts, Rodgers also boasts the superior record with 167 goals scored under his tenure, compared to 142 under Klopp and a 56.2% winning record as opposed to Klopp’s 50.7.

However, these statistics are misleading. Despite the numbers working in Rodgers’s favor, Liverpool remain in a stronger position now than they did under Rodgers. Here are five reasons that despite the statistics, Klopp’s spell at Liverpool will be stronger than Rodgers’s was.
