Five reasons why Liverpool are better off with Klopp over Rodgers despite the statistics
3. The consistency of Klopp’s side
While Brendan Rodgers’s spell at Anfield brought out a devastating attack and some truly thrilling football, Liverpool were unable to match their level of play in consecutive seasons. It is obviously difficult to match the quality of football with which Liverpool played in 2013/2014, but the decline in their performances after Suarez’s departure was remarkable.
Under Klopp, Liverpool have only improved and performances of rather high quality have been consistent throughout the duration of his management. Despite an eighth place finish in his first season in charge, the Reds managed to claim some impressive victories in the Europa League and in the Premier League against Manchester City and then (and current) champions Chelsea.
Since then, the Reds built an excellent record against England’s other top clubs and produced and jumped four places higher in the league table to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Despite Liverpool’s struggles this season, their dominance of matches should provide a source of relief to fans. Conversion of goal-scoring opportunities seems to be a bit of an issue at the moment, but convincing victories against Hoffenheim and Arsenal certainly suggest that it is within their ability to perform well yet again this season.
