Harry Winks-6.5

Winks certainly gave a lot of effort out on the pitch, but he didn’t get much accomplished for his side. In a match where his team enjoyed long spells of possession, he wasn’t able to get on the ball to push his teammates forward.

If he wants to push his way into Pochettino’s starting XI on a consistent basis he’s going to have to assert himself more. He cannot continue to play second fiddle to the likes of Eric Dier in the defensive midfield. The quicker Winks becomes confident enough to grab matches by the scruff of the neck the better off his club will be.

Eric Dier-6

The English midfielder had been playing better football as of late, but he took a slight step back against Bournemouth. You’d be hard pressed to articulate just what he did effectively against the Cherries.

It’s not that he was bad per se, but he didn’t get anything done. He wasn’t able to break up play in the midfield and he didn’t have many memorable moments on the ball either. Dier did have one moderate chance to score in the second half, but he couldn’t find a way to slot it home. The young midfielder will be on pins and needles as to whether or not he’ll get the starting nod at the Bernabeu this week.
