Tottenham face the toughest match of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure

Mauricio Pochettino will relish the challenge of taking Tottenham to Real Madrid on Tuesday. Time will tell whether or not that turns out to be a wise choice by the Argentine gaffer. It represents arguably the toughest fixture of his tenure at Spurs.

Pochettino isn’t the type to back down to anyone though. He understands the unique challenge of taking a team to the Bernabeu, but he’ll deploy a squad that he believes is capable of stealing three points from the La Liga giants. Accepting defeat ahead of a fixture just isn’t part of the former Espanyol man’s DNA.

Unfortunately, Tottenham aren’t able to bring their best XI players into this match. Victor Wanyama, Danny Rose, Erik Lamela and Ben Davies will all likely miss out due to injury. The Welshman’s illness in particular, is a late blow to Tottenham.

This match also signifies the last Champions League fixture that Dele Alli will be forced to miss due to suspension. You know the precocious Englishman will be in utter agony watching his teammates play in this one without him along to help. Still, it’s good that his suspension is finally going to end.

Despite those absences, Pochettino will deploy a strong side. Read on to discover the 11 players who will be charged with taking on the defending Champions League winners at their home ground.
