Tottenham have a chance to knock off Real Madrid

Real Madrid certainly enter their home fixture against Tottenham as the prohibitive favourites. However, it would be a serious mistake by Zinedine Zidane’s squad to dismiss Spurs as an inferior opponent.

Los Blancos certainly enjoy a significant talent advantage over their English opponents, but the gap isn’t as wide as you might think. Luminaries like Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco are superior to who Mauricio Pochettino can deploy, but Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are quite talented themselves. Tottenham have the required talent to push Real Madrid.

Spurs are also armed with a manager who will be desperate to win this match. Real Madrid aren’t Espanyol’s fiercest rival (that honor goes to Barcelona) but Pochettino still badly wants to top his former La Liga opposition. He knows what it’s like to play at the Bernabeu and will impress the importance of the match on his entire squad.

The real question becomes what can Tottenham do to really get at their Spanish opposition. Real Madrid may seem invincible, but there are routes Spurs can take to pull off the massive upset victory. Read on to discover the five top reasons that Tottenham could shock Europe and knock off the defending Champions League winners.
