Dries Mertens

The Napoli striker could be a wonderful option for the Blues due to the fact that he’s a fantastic goalscorer and knows that at age 30 he’s not going to get another shot at a pay opportunity like moving to the Premier League.

The Belgian international is one of the most important players to Napoli at the moment however so convincing him to leave in the middle of what could be a historic season for the club could be difficult.  Chelsea would find Mertens useful in the same way they would find Sanchez.  He’s a phenomenal striker but can also offer depth in the fact that he can play anywhere across the front.

He’s also a proven goalscorer.  Last season he scored 34 goals in 45 games for the Southern Italian powerhouse.  Mertens has a relatively low buyout clause and it’s the sort of thing that smart clubs capitalize on.
