Chelsea FC surprisingly target forgotten Arsenal midfielder
Chelsea FC have surprisingly been linked with injury-prone English midfielder Jack Wilshere from Arsenal.
Both Chelsea FC and Manchester City have been linked with an unexpected move for the 25-year-old Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere as he decides on whether or not to sign a new contract with the Gunners.
Wilshere’s current deal is set to expire in the summer but will be in talks with Arsenal over the coming weeks for a new deal. But if that falls through, Chelsea FC and Manchester City are both reportedly eager to sign him. It is thought they both are interested in filling their home-grown quota.
The English midfielder is a sublime passer of the ball and has fantastic vision but has been rattled with injuries in the past few seasons. Consequentially, he has not quite lived up to the high expectations of him and many fans have belittled and joked about his never-ending injury problems.
However, Wilshere has looked good since he came back from his last injury that he sustained while at Bournemouth on loan. He made a sublime assist for Aaron Ramsey’s goal against Everton recently and he also played well in Arsenals’s recent Europa League game.

But in surprising news, Wilshere is now being linked with either Manchester City or Chelsea FC if he decides to not renew his contract for Arsene Wenger.
Head coach Antonio Conte signed Danny Drinkwater in the summer but he has been injured since arriving at Stamford Bridge which has frustrated many Chelsea fans. So it’s not certain how exactly Wilshere would fit into the team with competition from new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko, Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Drinkwater,
However I think this could be good move for Chelsea FC if they manage to sign him. In my view, Wilshere is better than Drinkwater and he would give Cesc Fabregas a run for his money if he stays fit, and of course injury-free.
Meanwhile, I’m not quite sure how Wilshere could possibly even get minutes in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad when players like Gundogan and Yaya Toure can’t even get into the team.
So Chelsea FC would certainly be the better move for Wilshere even though he faces stiff competition there too.
But on his day, I would put Wilshere’s passing ability up there with Cesc Fabregas but unfortunately buying him carries the risk of dealing with one of his many injury woes.
But, I suspect this news has leaked out from Wilshere’s representation and wouldn’t be surprised if Wilshere signs a new and improved deal with Arsenal.

Chelsea FC would do well to sign Wilshere as he’s an upgrade on Drinkwater and would be the natural play-making successor to Cesc Fabregas as he ages.
