Tottenham will rest their biggest stars

Wednesday’s match between Tottenham and West Ham in the Carabao Cup will represent an excellent opportunity for Mauricio Pochettino to take a look at plenty of his reserves. There’s zero chance the Argentine gaffer will field a strong XI against the Hammers. Simply put, Tottenham have more important competitions.

That doesn’t mean that Pochettino is punting the match though. Spurs still have enough quality to challenge a strong West Ham group. It’s unclear just how serious Slaven Bilic might take the fixture, but it’s safe to say he’ll field more starters than Pochettino.

One player we know won’t be in Tottenham’s starting XI is striker Harry Kane. Pochettino has already let the world know his talisman will be rested for the Manchester United match this weekend. Expect him to be joined on the bench by several of Spurs’ big name attackers. It would be surprising to see either Christian Eriksen or Dele Alli risked as well.

The absence of those Tottenham luminaries is going to give significant opportunities to players on the fringes of Pochettino’s squad. Read on to discover the 11 players most likely to get the starting nod from Pochettino against West Ham.
