Defensive Midfielder-Eric Dier

Assuming he’s fully recovered from this weekend’s illness, Dier should be back in Pochettino’s starting XI against West Ham. He’ll be counted on to serve as a shield in front of Spurs’ back four.

Dier needs to play well to stay in the midfield mix for Pochettino. Right now, he’s benefitted from the injury absences of both Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama. When they return, he could easily be squeezed out of the match day squad altogether. Dier would be well served to play a standout match against West Ham to remind Pochettino of what he’s capable of producing.

Defensive MIdfielder-Harry Winks

No Tottenham player has raised his stock more this season than Winks. He’s taken every opportunity given to him and turned it into a regular part of Pochettino’s midfield rotation.

He’ll look to continue his positive momentum against the Hammers. The key for Winks will be transitioning from a player who looks comfortable on the pitch to someone who can dominate a match. This fixture could be a real opportunity for him to assert himself against Premier League competition.
