It takes a unique ability to get selected for the most storied club in England. But with any club, there are some players that get rated too highly. Here are those that suit up for United that are given too much praise:

5. Ashley Young

This is a tough one because nobody rates Young as being anything special. However, I consider him overrated because he is still considered good enough to have a spot on this team. To me, there is no reason he should still be on the team.

There are some good things about Young. He is a versatile guy that can play either as a defender or up on the wing. However, he doesn’t have much pace anymore and hasn’t looked in sync during his time in the Premier League. Young is a player that looks like a classic Jose Mourinho guy in terms of being solid on defense but at times it seems like he’s too patient with the ball and takes too long to make a pass trying to find the perfect one. United has moved away from a clunky offense and it’s time for him to do the same.

He’s been alright in the Champions League so far in this campaign but his best days look to be behind him. I just don’t see why he’s starting for a team like United. Maybe at a lower Premier League team it would be acceptable but not for a team that is trying to compete for British and European titles in the near future.

I also considered putting Matteo Darmian here. He’s another guy who really doesn’t seem to bring a lot to the table but people seem to be more critical of Darmian than they are of Young so that lands Young on the list.
