Left wingback-Ben Davies

My apologies to everyone who was hoping to see Danny Rose’s name here. He isn’t fit enough to start two matches in one week yet. He may be an impact substitute, but Davies will get the starting nod.

It’s not as if the Welshman doesn’t deserve it. Davies has been one of Pochettino’s best players this year. He may lack the elite athleticism to get forward at will, but he’s a steady defender who doesn’t make many mistakes. Rest assured, his average athleticism will be tested early and often by Mourinho’s squad.

Right wingback-Serge Aurier

In many ways, Aurier is the antithesis of Davies. He’s capable of making maddening decisions that can really hurt his team. On the other hand, he’s a world-class athlete who can change the match with his marauding runs up the pitch.

It’s a simple question of which Aurier we see at Old Trafford. If he plays a mistake free match, he could easily end up as the Man of the Match. If he falls victim to making one of his foolish challenges, he could see red yet again.
