Roy Hodgson

Hodgson should really be called Mr. Average.  He has made a career out of turning out average football for average sides.  The highlight of his career was a phenomenal run to the Europa League Final with Fulham but they didn’t win and he hasn’t done anything else of use since then.

Hodgson is a big student of the game and has held 22 different managerial postings over the course of his career while never staying that long.  He’s simply OK.  His teams defend pretty well and attack fine.  They don’t ever become much more than the sum of their parts and Roy doesn’t make any tactical tweaks that could see them turn into anything more than that.

It will be interesting to see if Hodgson is able to save Palace from the drop.  As of recently he has not made a major difference in results.  If he can change things up the next question will be if he is willing to stay or not.
