Tony Pulis

Pulis can feel a little hard done by in the fact that he’s been successful at every club he’s been at but never really been given any respect for it.  Pulis is a very safe manager.  He knows that his job is results based and that’s what he pursues.  Perhaps the fact that Pulis is such a realist is why people don’t rate him so highly.

Football is about so much more than realism.  Everybody holds onto some football based dream deep in their minds and the fact that Pulis doesn’t respect that might be the problem.  At every club he’s been at Pulis has gotten results. Fact.  They’re not pretty in any way but he does win football matches.  Every once and a while it would be nice to see an England manager with that attitude to be honest.

The truth is though that Pulis will probably never get a chance to compete for anything of note.  His complete refusal to even pretend he’s interested in beautiful football or in any of the romantic notions of the game will see to that.
