World Cup news: Best XI of players who won’t be in Russia
By Kian Long
Jean Seri – Ivory Coast
Jean Seri is a little bit of a different one, and just like Serge Aurier and Eric Bailly, a risky one given Ivory Coast’s position at this moment in time.
However, I’m a big advocate of Jean Seri’s work for OGC Nice. I think he’s one of the most versatile midfielders in Europe right now, but that’s just my opinion.
His defensive input shouldn’t be overlooked and his attacking prowess is easy on the eye. He often pops up in pockets of space to link the play between defence and attack with fancy flicks. His passing and shooting is also superb.
As a lover of the way in which Jean Seri plays, I really hope that Nigeria do qualify for the World Cup, but if they don’t, then Seri has missed his chance to showcase his talents to the world.
