Antonio Candreva

This is a player that Chelsea chased during the summer but were not able to get across the line.  The Italian utility player is 30 years old and mainly adds numbers to the Chelsea team.  It is however something that Chelsea need and Candreva can add some very useful dimensions.

Throughout his time playing in Serie A Candreva has played right-back, wing-back, defensive midfield, central-midfield, winger and even for a period at Lazio as a support striker.  When Antonio Conte said he needed more pieces simply in case something went wrong it was players like Candreva he was asking for.  Those who are willing to do what is necessary.

Candreva is not the most talented player in the world but he is hardworking and strong.  He doesn’t let his team down in those final 15 minutes when they’re tired and the opposition is beating down on them.

Candreva is a good example as to what dedication and handwork can bring a footballer.  He’s had a phenomenal career and would be a good addition to the side because of what he brings both on and off the field.
