According to Spanish source Diariogol.com Real Madrid are about to buy their way out of the slump that is currently ruining the defence of last years historically successful season.

Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez knows only one way to deal with failure at Real Madrid. Spend and spend big.  Apparently in his attempt to restrengthen Los Blancos he is looking at three Manchester United stars among the galaxy of them he is looking to bring to Real Madrid.

The three players that he is targeting are Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now some of these seem possible and the other does not seem as much so.

Juan Mata grew up in the Real Madrid youth system before he moved to Valencia and then over to Chelsea and Manchester United.  It would make sense seeing as his contract is coming up for Real Madrid to jump on his wildly under appreciated skill set at the low value that an ending contract presents.  Mata is a stand up citizen and frankly a perfect team player.

Real Madrid need more characters like him in the locker room to turn this season around.  Mata may like the idea seeing as he’d be able to move home and though he wouldn’t get a great amount of playing time in Madrid it’s not like he’s getting a lot in Manchester either.

The second Ander Herrera is in a similar situation to Mata in the fact that his contract is coming up and Manchester United have not extended it yet.  The Real Madrid midfield though phenomenal for the last two years has started to look pedestrian.

More from Real Madrid

It could be the fact that they’ve played more games than any team in Europe in the past two years or perhaps it is father time.  Either way adding Herrera, a Spanish international, only strengthens the squad and gives Zidane more options with which to dig out of the ridiculous hole that Madrid have seeped into.

The last one is Zlatan.  Maybe it works maybe it doesn’t but it would be brilliant if it does.  Zlatan is a type of player that hasn’t really been seen before.  He has no interest in club loyalty and simply likes to show his dominance by switching leagues.

He has won the league in every division in which he has played and claims that is why he is in England.  If Manchester United win he’s off if they lose he could stay.  That said Zlatan does what Zlatan wants and he is loyal marvelously only to himself.

Real Madrid would be an interesting move for the Swede because his ego with Ronaldo’s could literally make the world implode.  That said the one thing Madrid lack this season is goals and Zlatan Ibrahimovic provides goals galore for whatever side he’s in.  It is important though that his knee has healed from his surgeries in the offseason.
