Julian Draxler is a major target of the Bavarian giants.
According to reports, Bayern Munich see Draxler as the long-term replacement for Franck Ribéry. The French winger is increasingly becoming susceptible to injuries, and Bayern are looking to lower the average age of their squad. Ribéry formed a lethal partnership with Arjen Robben as they terrorised defences from both wings, but it looks like his successful time at the club is coming to an end.
Draxler has suffered from a mixture of bad luck and poor decision-making regarding his transfers up until this point. He joined Wolfsburg just as they started their descent from title challengers into the lower parts of the league table. Although, it’s fair to say that a major part of their success may have been down to Kevin De Bruyne. He has continued his rapid development since then with Draxler unfairly expected to replace him.
The German international then decided to join Paris Saint-Germain in January. He has performed well in his time there, but the summer saw Neymar and Kylian Mbappé join. This has significantly limited his game time because of his lowered role in the hierarchy of attacking options. It doesn’t help that both of them suit playing the left-wing role in a 4-3-3, which is Draxler’s favoured position.
Ideal move
This would be the ideal move for both parties. As said above, Bayern need a long-term replacement for Ribéry on the left-wing. At 24-years-old, Draxler has a long future of him, but also has plenty of experience. He has accumulated 180 appearances across two separate leagues as well as playing in both the Champions League and the Europa League. In total he has played over 250 major club matches, which should ease his transition in to the team.
Draxler also benefits from this move because of the status of Bayern. They are a huge club and are guaranteed to play in the Champions League every season. Unlike some other big clubs, they are stable and are likely to live up to their promises. Consistent performances from Draxler are likely to be rewarded with the starting left-wing role. This move would also allow him to rebuild his career. He hasn’t played badly, but his reputation has been lowered as other big names dominate at PSG.

It would also benefit PSG because they need to balance the books after huge transfers. Selling him for a decent price would help their attempts to stay in the Financial Fair Play limits. They wouldn’t miss him because of the range of attacking options that they have.
