Central Defender-Eric Dier

The English midfielder/defender will be under immense pressure to fill in for Alderweireld in this match. It won’t surprise anyone if Arsenal try to test his defensive prowess early and often.

Dier must keep his emotions in check if he wants to play his best match. We’ve seen his temper get the better of him a few times against Chelsea. He needs to stay calm and out of the book to help Spurs win this match.

Central Defender-Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen will miss his Belgian partner, but he’s been Tottenham’s best defender on the season. It’s time for him to start getting the credit his excellent play deserves.

He’ll be tasked to keep a particularly close eye on Mesut Ozil in this match. The German midfielder is much-maligned, but his talent is obvious. If Vertonghen can keep him off the ball it should pay dividends for the Spurs defense.

Central Defender-Davinson Sanchez

The talented Colombian will be tossed headlong into his first North London Derby. Fortunately for Sanchez and his teammates, they haven’t lost a Premier League match with him in the lineup.

If that trend is going to continue he’ll need to do the dirty work against the Gunners. Sanchez’s performance doesn’t need to be a work of art. He simply needs a quiet, efficient performance to earn his club three points.
