Mauricio Pochettino isn’t sure about Danny Rose’s future at Tottenham

Danny Rose is still a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the time being, but the Spurs gaffer admits that fact could change this summer. He certainly left the door wide open for a big money Manchester United swoop this summer.

The good news for Spurs fans is there is no current rift between Rose and Pochettino. The left back was predictably upset at being left out of the Spurs squad for the North London Derby, but it was strictly a business decision by Pochettino. It seems Rose experienced a healthy amount of anger for a competitive player without letting it overflow to become a real negative.

Pochettino refused to be drawn out any further about Rose’s future at Tottenham though. He skillfully dodged that question with the press yesterday. He hid behind the age-old excuse that “no one can predict the future.” The Spurs manager even admits that the decision regarding Rose’s future might lie outside of his hands.

The clear implication there is that Rose could be sold if a massive bid comes in. Pochettino certainly thinks he’s a talent, but Ben Davies has filled in beautifully for him during his injury absence. It’s not as if Pochettino would be left without a starting left back if Rose were sold.

That reality should give Manchester United a great deal of hope. They won’t be able to acquire Rose on the cheap, but that’s never been much of a concern for Jose Mourinho and company. The Premier League giants have never hesitated to make a massive bid for a player they believe can walk into their starting XI.

Provided he’s able to achieve full fitness, Rose certainly has the talent to make that happen. Luke Shaw has completely failed to make the left back position his own which has made the spot a revolving door for Mourinho. A healthy Rose would certainly become The Special One’s first choice immediately upon his arrival.

Pochettino and company certainly understand that. That’s precisely why they’ll feel comfortable asking for a massive transfer fee in exchange for the English international. Spurs understand Rose has significantly more value for other clubs than he does for Pochettino’s squad at the moment. Whenever that rare circumstance is achieved, there’s always a chance for a big money transfer. Be on the lookout for a serious Manchester United bid for Danny Rose this summer.
