Is there any way back for Real Madrid?

Zinedine Zidane and his men have endured a grossly underwhelming start to the season, and many are already convinced that the fate of La Liga is now a foregone conclusion. Poor performances by senior players have been at the forefront of Los Blancos’ dip in form – and injuries across the board have accentuated their problems.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, the team’s leading marksmen, have scored two apiece in the league so far – tallies which are not reflective of their immense stature. Elsewhere, Gareth Bale’s injuries have restricted the Welshman to only five appearances this season; and this forbidden romance with the medical room continues to plague his Real Madrid career.

Despite the club’s shortcomings, there is still plenty to play for in the season – and a positive string of results could potentially turn the tide in their favour. With players returning from lay-offs and others beginning to find their feet, the question is when rather than if Real can rekindle the spark that guided them to consecutive Champions League triumphs.

Let’s delve deeper into what can drive such a title charge and examine the five reasons why a historic comeback remains a Real possibility.
