Tottenham will shuffle their defensive setup

Davinson Sanchez’s red card against Watford leaves Mauricio Pochettino short of defensive options against Stoke this weekend. The Spurs gaffer will have to get creative with the 11 players he chooses to deploy against the Potters.

Remember, Pochettino also doesn’t have Toby Alderweireld available for this fixture. The talented Belgian remains sidelined due to injury. That means Spurs will enter this matchup without two of their top three centre backs.

Fortunately for Pochettino, his club figures to enjoy the lion’s share of possession this weekend. Stoke certainly have the offensive firepower to cause Spurs problems, but most of their attacks should be via the counterattack. That should, in theory, lessen the pressure on Tottenham’s centre backs.

As always, Spurs will set out to suffocate their opposition with their star-studded attack. It’s a win for Tottenham if they can make this match about their offense rather than their defense. Pochettino will endeavor to make Sanchez and Alderweireld’s absences a non factor.

Read on to discover how Pochettino will line up his troops for this important fixture. Anything less than three points will be a real blow for Tottenham.
