Centre back: Vincent Kompany

The Belgian powerhouse was a guaranteed starter in this Manchester United v Manchester City combined XI. He’s been at the forefront of many Manchester City victories of recent history, and it feels like he only grows better by the day.

He’s had to adopt to many new defensive partners, as well as a few coaching alterations, but he’s always solidified himself a place when he’s fully fit.

He has experience of playing with and against Manchester United’s new star striker, Romelu Lukaku, as they share the same national team. Manchester City fans will be hoping that their captain will put his knowledge of the opposing striker to good use in this match.

He’s rarely let the Citizens down, and he’ll be looking to get back into full gear, after suffering many injury knock backs during his time with new manager Pep Guardiola.
