Centre back: Nicolas Otamendi

Okay, I know I said that this wouldn’t be based on the current season, but how could I not include Nicolas Otamendi in this Manchester United v Manchester City combined XI for his antics this season?

He seems to have been spending those extra hours at the training ground with fellow countryman Sergio Aguero, because the centre back has turned into some sort of goal-scoring machine. We’re not even half way through the season and the defender has racked up four goals across all competitions.

Nevertheless, nothing would beat the feeling of scoring at Old Trafford, which you wouldn’t overlook Nicolas Otamendi doing. However, that won’t be his main focus, he’ll be concentrating on keeping the clean sheet to see his side over the line.

He’ll be very reliable when it comes to aerial duels, but he will be facing Romelu Lukaku, which is never an easy task.
