Tottenham were dominated by Manchester City

Mauricio Pochettino can criticize plenty of his players for poor performances against Manchester City yesterday. The real question is whether or not the Tottenham boss can draw any legitimate positives from the 4-1 defeat.

In fairness, the score line may be a little misleading. Spurs played the Citizens fairly even during the opening 45 minutes. If Tottenham had been more clinical, the match could have ended much differently.

The second half however, was a complete disaster. Tottenham were thoroughly overrun by Pep Guardiola’s star-studded attack. City showed just how vast the talent gap is between both Premier League squads. Suffice it to say, there are plenty of reasons that Manchester City seem set to run away with the league title.

As you might expect, there will be quite a few poor player ratings in this piece. It’s hard to give out too many positive marks to a side that loses in such a one-sided fashion. Christian Eriksen’s late goal prevented Spurs from being shut out, but it was of little consequence. The match was clearly over by the time he found the back of the net.

Read on to discover which Tottenham stars deserve the most blame for the listless performance. These ratings won’t be pretty. Nor was the match.
