Right wingback-Serge Aurier

Kieran Trippier may be desperate for a chance to put the City debacle behind him, but he’ll have to wait a bit longer for his opportunity. Pochettino will go with the mercurial Serge Aurier instead on Saturday.

The two keys to the match for Aurier will be getting past defenders in the final third and keeping a cool head. He has the pace to get all the way to the byline, but frequently stops and passes the ball backwards. That dramatically lessens his ability to strike fear in opposing defenders.

Keeping a cool head is a fairly simple idea, but it’s one that escapes Aurier at times. The more he stays on his feet during this match, the better off Tottenham will be.

Left wingback-Ben Davies

It’s very likely that Ben Davies felt aggrieved to be left on the bench against City last weekend until the closing moments. While Danny Rose did play reasonably well in his stead, Davies deserves the chance to get back in the starting XI at Burnley.

He should benefit greatly from playing next to Vertonghen in a back five. It frees the Welshman to get forward quite a bit. Davies does his best work when he’s given free rein to attack the opposition.
