Left back-Ben Davies
While I’ve been happy to see Danny Rose back in Pochettino’s starting XI, you can’t help but feel a bit sorry for Ben Davies. The Welshman played brilliant football in relief of Rose and deserves the chance to start at Swansea.
It also happens to be a terrific matchup for Davies. Spurs figure to dominate possession which allows the left back to play to his strengths. Don’t be surprised to see him get a lot of time and space on the ball down the left flank in this one.
Right back-Kieran Trippier
Serge Aurier seems to be inching ahead of Trippier in Pochettino’s pecking order, but squad rotation will hand the Englishman the start here. Fortunately, Trippier’s lack of pace and athleticism shouldn’t be exposed against the Swans.
The key for Trippier will be whether or not he can make one of his crosses pay off. He should get plenty of chances to send tempting balls into the box, but the absence of Kane will make it harder for him to provide an assist. Expect Spurs to attack more down the left hand flank due to Davies’ superior ability to deliver passes as opposed to crosses.
