Centre back-Davinson Sanchez

Swansea fans were furious Sanchez didn’t see red against them in the second half. Of course, they completely forgot that his first yellow card was a ludicrous dive in the first half.

Nonetheless, Pochettino did the right thing by taking him off the pitch. He was walking a tightrope and one more challenge could have seen him leaving the field without a choice.

He’ll need to play a better, more composed match to deal with West Ham’s tricky attack. In particular, he’ll be tasked with battling Andy Carroll for 90 minutes. The Colombian must keep his emotions in check to play his best football.

Centre back-Jan Vertonghen

There’s no easier call in the starting XI than playing Vertonghen in front of Hugo Lloris. He’s quietly put together one of his best stretches with Tottenham this season.

Being confined by playing in a back four might not be as much fun for Vertonghen, but it suits his talents just fine. A quiet, mistake-free match with quality distribution from the back would be a perfect outing for the talented Belgian.
