Serge Aurier-7.5

The Ivory Coast defender had one of his best performances in a Spurs kit. It’s a shame it was wasted on a pretty ugly draw.

Nonetheless, he served as a real bright spot for Pochettino. He tormented the Hammers’ left flank and was able to cross the ball into dangerous areas on quite a few occasions. On another day, he could have easily bagged multiple assists.

Perhaps his most important contribution of the match was his risky, but perfectly timed, challenge that led to Son’s goal. Without that precise move, Spurs could have left with no points at all. Aurier continues to put real distance between himself and Kieran Trippier in Pochettino’s pecking order.

Ben Davies-6

Aurier’s counterpart on the left flank did not enjoy a very productive match. Davies was decent enough, but wasn’t able to create anything despite having a lot of time on the ball.

The Welshman continues to try to cut inside with the ball which only serves to congest the middle of the Tottenham attack. Pochettino would be well served to council him to make overlapping runs that could really unlike Son. Until that happens, he’s going to struggle to play excellent football for Spurs.
