Following Arsenal’s humiliating defeat to Nottingham Forest, Arsene Wenger had some interesting things to say about his player’s performances. Is it just petty Arsenal drama, or should this be a concern?

Arsene Wenger is renowned, and even sometimes frowned upon for his FA Cup antics, which is bizarre. The French manager is the most successful manager to ever grace this competition, so watching from the sidelines on Sunday night will have hurt as he had to watch the Arsenal drama reignite.

Since joining Arsenal 22 years ago, he has never been on the receiving end of a third-round knockout. This year, the Gunners were drawn an away match with Nottingham Forest, and Arsene Wenger had to watch from the sidelines as he faced his punishment from the FA.

With Steve Bould being the figurehead on the night, it was still down to Arsene Wenger to pick the starting eleven. He surprised many by selecting a relatively weak lineup, but it was still enough to beat the Championship side.

Jon Moss officiated this match, and it comes as no surprise that Arsenal were once again on the receiving end of some controversial decisions. A late penalty was given to Forest, after Debuchy won the ball in the box, which kick-started the Arsenal drama.

The penalty was given and upon being scored, there were many eyebrows raised over a potential double touch of the ball, which is against the laws of the game, but Jon Moss wasn’t in favour of the allegations. When questioned about the referee’s antics, Arsene Wenger had to be careful, so he changed the subject…

"“I’ve talked about (referees) and I have nothing to add. I just think we were not good enough anywhere. Not up front, in the middle, or at the back and we paid for it. We repeated the same mistakes, once, twice, three times.” – Arsene Wenger (via The Guardian)"
