Jonathan Panzo

For a club like Chelsea that prides itself so thoroughly on its defensive history it is another matter of pride that one of the most influential parts of England’s youth World Cup success was another defender by the name of Jonathan Panzo.  The London born defender is exceptionally talented and known for his excellence on the ball.  He is left footed and should be hopeful in the fact that the left side of Chelsea’s defensive three looks like the position that will be opening up the soonest.

Panzo is built prototypically for a defender in that he is strong, wide and tall.  Unlike others though he is blessed with excellent soft feet and a remarkable turn of pace.  If he can turn all of this into a complete defender then Chelsea supporters should be very excited.

Panzo captained England at the U-16 level and he’s not the sort of player that Chelsea should take lightly.  If he can get in a two-year loan like Andreas Christensen then there’s no reason to think that he couldn’t be starting at Chelsea by 21-20 or even 19.  That sort of age would provide Chelsea with a titan in defence who has the potential to make almost 500 appearances at the club.
