Step One: Mess with Arsenal

I’m normally not in favour of kicking someone while they’re down, but in the case of Arsenal I’m willing to make a sizable exception. Spurs should do their best to complicate Arsene Wenger’s month.

Many fans have suggested a cheeky bid for Alexis Sanchez, but that isn’t a realistic way to torment the Gunners. Instead, Spurs should force their arch rivals to pay top dollar for their January transfers.

Chiefly, that would mean that Spurs should “express serious interest” in both Malcolm and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Those two attacking players seem to be Wenger’s ideal replacements for Alexis and Mesut Ozil. There’s no reason Tottenham shouldn’t drive the prices of both players through the roof.

Tottenham aren’t going to pay the money needed to outbid Arsenal for either player, but they can cost the Gunners a few million pounds in transfer fees. That, plus the added stress on Arsenal fan base would be well worth the trouble for Spurs.
