Step Five: Give out tons of new contracts

The most important thing Tottenham can do to solidify the club’s future is to tie down their top end talent with new deals. Fortunately, this does seem to be Levy’s top priority at the moment.

Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son have all proven they are significantly underpaid at the moment. As luck would have it, these are the five players that Levy is reportedly planning on offering bumper new contracts to sooner, rather than later.

It would be nice if Levy would add Erik Lamela and Victor Wanyama to this list. Lamela has only recently returned from his long injury, but his hips seem to be in working order. Once again,m the Argentine is an important part of his countryman’s squad.

Wanyama is still working his way back to full health, but his importance to the club can’t be overstated. He may not have the sexiest game, but he is ruthlessly effective in the middle of Tottenham’s midfield. Letting him think about leaving would be a really poor choice.

Signing all seven of these players to new deals might be cost prohibitive, but that doesn’t mean the club shouldn’t be working on all fronts. The new stadium is designed to improve Tottenham’s wage structure. Levy should make it clear that is reality and not fantasy.
