Analysis of Arsenal’s January transfer window 2017/18

Losing Alexis Sanchez but gaining Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Perhaps one of the biggest stories of the window is Arsenal losing their contract rebel Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United. It was a departure that many were waiting to happen, however it came as a shock that he didn’t join the blue side of Manchester.

Many fans and players have taken to social media to share their sense of fulfillment now Alexis Sanchez has left the club. Many claimed that he was holding the club back, and that Arsenal can push forward as a club.

However, there’s no denying the Chilean’s quality, which is why Arsenal wouldn’t have wanted to lose him for free. They didn’t receive cash, but they did receive a talented player in Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will add fluidity to Arsenal’s attack, and he was an excellent addition to Arsenal’s transfer window. Sven Mislintat, Arsenal’s new head of recruitment, was thought to have played a pivotal role in this deal, as he has experience with the Armenian during their Borussia Dortmund days.
