Tottenham shouldn’t risk Harry Kane against Newport County

Mauricio Pochettino has his work cut out for him to make sure his Tottenham squad are squarely focused on Newport County this week. It would be very easy for Spurs to overlook the FA Cup match ahead of this weekend’s massive North London Derby. Unfortunately for Pochettino, he’ll need to make some tough decision to rotate his squad this week.

The number one priority for Pochettino should be making sure Harry Kane is fit and firing for the Arsenal match this weekend. The Argentine gaffer will be tempted to trot his English talisman out against Newport, but he’s got to make a more mature choice. Kane should be left on the bench unless Spurs need to use him in case of emergency.

That doesn’t mean every Tottenham star should get rested though. Pochettino understands just how badly the club’s passionate fan base crave a trophy. Crashing out at Wembley against a smaller club like Newport County would be a gut punch for Spurs fans around the globe.

As such, you can safely expect Pochettino to start a strong starting XI. He shouldn’t use Kane in this match, but he should use quite a bit of his attacking firepower. Read on to see how Pochettino will rotate the squad for this important FA Cup tie.
