Harry Winks-4

Winks desperately wanted to use this match as a platform to get back into Pochettino’s good graces but he failed miserably. His giveaway led to Rochdale’s opening goal and he never seemed to fully recover from that mistake.

With that being said, he did start to show a little bit of quality before he was taken off in the second half. Unfortunately, his drives into the final third didn’t come off to anything concrete. That means that his costly giveaway was still his most memorable moment of the match. Winks will hope that Pochettino is willing to overlook his error.

Victor Wanyama-5

I might have been more disappointed with Wanyama’s poor effort in midfield. Whereas Winks is just coming back from injury, Wanyama should be at the point where he is ready to start Premier League matches again.

His performance at Rochdale certainly won’t inspire Pochettino to insert him into the starting XI again. He looked slow and ponderous on the ball all match long. Even worse, he didn’t seem to be able to break up Rochdale’s midfield attacks with any regularity. It was a pretty poor match for the Kenyan international.
