5. Say goodbye to this midfield starlet

Last season, it really seemed that Josh Onomah was ready to break into Pochettino’s first team. Unfortunately, his promising future has dimmed considerably since then. The English midfielder is currently mired in the midst of a very mediocre loan spell at Aston Villa.

It’s reasonable to expect Pochettino to bring Onomah back and give him a chance to impress in preseason. Sadly, nothing about his play for the Villains indicate he’s ready to experience a career breakthrough.

That makes this summer as a very opportune time to part ways with Onomah. He’s still young enough to allow the club to earn a significant transfer fee. If Tottenham wait another six months to cut bait on Onomah, they may be forced to let him go for a paltry sum.

This is actually one of the moves that I believe will happen this summer. Selling Onomah to a lower level Premier League club with a sell-on clause attached would be excellent business. That might disappoint fans of Tottenham’s Academy pipeline, but Onomah is running out of chances.
