3. Sell high on Harry Winks

I can practically feel the blood pressure of Tottenham fans reading this idea rise as I type these words. The idea behind this ruthless move isn’t rooted in any belief that Winks isn’t worthy of a place in the Tottenham squad. Instead, I’m making this suggestion because Winks’ stock may never be higher across England.

Simply put, I have real doubts over whether or not Winks can ever be a regular starter for a Premier League side with Champions League aspirations. His lack of size, athleticism, and most concerningly, offensive skill makes him a pretty limited player.

He also doesn’t strike me as the sort of player who will be content with a bench role throughout the prime of his career. Is he really that much better than Ryan Mason was when he made the choice to move to Hull City?

Fortunately, there would be a ton of Premier League clubs interested in acquiring Winks if he is transfer listed this summer. It’s very possible Spurs could receive upwards of £30 for the young, English midfielder. That would be a serious gamble, but the money could be well-spent on a more accomplished replacement for Mousa Dembele.
