3. Pochettino v Hodgson

With all due respect to the former England boss, there’s hardly a bigger contrast between two Premier League managers than we’ll see in this fixture. Hodgson is the epitome of old school English management. Pochettino, in sharp contrast represents the new wave of Premier League bosses from abroad.

It’s much easier to discuss how the managers differ. Pochettino acts as a father-figure to his players while Hodgson presents himself as the affable grandfather of his squad. Which do you think is better suited to get a big effort out of his squad on Sunday?

Even outside of their obvious personality differences, the two have entirely different ideas as to how football should be played. Hodgson is quite satisfied to lump the ball forward and try to allow his places to directly attack the opposition. Pochettino instructs his attack to press the opposition and play the ball on the ground at all times. It’s night and day tactically.

Roy Hodgson has enjoyed a distinguished managerial career, but this weekend won’t add to his considerably legacy. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks and Pochettino won’t hesitate to put Hodgson to the sword.
