1. The gulf in striker quality

Just a few short years ago, many Tottenham fans believed the club should make every effort to purchase Christian Benteke from Aston Villa. Ultimately, he moved first to Liverpool and now finds himself toiling at Palace. It appears that Spurs dodged a significant bullet.

After all, if Benteke had come into the Tottenham team it’s quite possible that Harry Kane would have been sent elsewhere. Perhaps Benteke would have enjoyed a better time at Tottenham than he did at Liverpool, but it’s clear he’s not in Kane’s stratosphere as a player.

The difference in quality between the two hitman gives Spurs a massive advantage in this match. Kane is a threat to earn a hat trick every time he steps onto the pitch. Benteke has been more well-known for his horrible misses in front of goal than his actual finishing ability over the past several seasons.

Benteke isn’t entirely without ability, but he’ll need a lot of quality service to really bother Hugo Lloris and the Tottenham defense. Don’t bet on Palace having enough of the ball to set him up enough for him to score. Kane, on the other hand should see plenty of the ball in dangerous areas. Don’t be surprised to make him punish Palace on multiple occasions.
