Arsenal must have a clear plan heading into the match at Wembley Stadium if they are to merge victorious.

Manchester City and Arsenal face off on Sunday, in an exciting Carabao Cup final. While there are no clear favourites when it comes to cup finals, many would back Manchester City on paper.

However, Arsenal certainly shouldn’t be overlooked, given their impressive cup final record at Wembley Stadium in recent history.

Arsenal must put aside their disappointing result to Ostersunds in the Europa League knockout stages, and focus solely on beating Manchester City. The way in which the Gunners can do so, is by being ruthless and not giving Manchester City any room to strut their stuff.

The Gunners aren’t known for coming up with the goods when it comes to the big stage, but if you look at where they’ve been successful against the big teams in recent seasons, it all comes down to a sheer level of determination.

When Arsenal press high up the pitch, their attacking talents can produce wonders. Against Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of the season, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette were asked to adopt the high pressing philosophy, and it worked as they merged 2-0 winners.

Again, in the FA Cup final last season, Arsenal didn’t give Chelsea the time of day. Straight from the kick off, Arsenal looked very attack-minded. And it proved, with the Gunners getting the early goal and having many more opportunities to expand their lead.

We all know about the defensive frailties Arsenal have suffered this season, which doesn’t look good mixed with Pep Guardiola’s attacking genius. However, Liverpool proved you don’t need the most solid defence in order to overcome Manchester City.

Liverpool are known for their attacking prowess, which they put to excellent use against Pep Guardiola’s men earlier on in the season. With the acquisition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal can certainly cause problems to Pep Guardiola’s defence.

However, with all that being said, it will all come down to who wants it more. Both teams have reason to fight, after losing their most recent games. This means that if you’re watching as a neutral, you can expect an emphatic affair.

Who do you think will merge victorious in this Carabao Cup final?
