Paul Pogba has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in recent weeks, but all the speculation seems rather convenient and fishy at the moment.

February has been a difficult month for Manchester United, and even more so for Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has had two bad games, been dropped once and is now reported to be on his way out of Old Trafford. But it all just seems like a driven up agenda by the media, who want to cause disruptions and get clicks and comments.

Why would Pogba leave Manchester United? He is the club’s record signing, is one of the most highest rated players in the league, and is United’s main man. No where else in the world will Pogba be given as much freedom and luxury as he is at United.

A move away would suit no one. When Pogba joined Manchester United in 2016, it was thought that he would spend the rest of his career at the club. Anywhere else would be a step down for him, bar Real Madrid and Barcelona. But with the Spanish giants having no need for a midfielder or a player like him, Pogba can only take a step down from here.

People are suggesting that he could go back to Juventus, but the Italians are on the downhill and Pogba has already achieved everything he possibly could with the club.

His potential departure would also be a massive blow for the club. Manchester United are getting better, even if some people do not want to believe is. They can challenge for the league title as well as the Champions League from next season onwards. And selling Pogba would mean taking three steps back for United.

Pogba needs a world-class performance

For all the criticism he has received, Pogba has performed really well actually this season. Despite enduring a season blemished by injuries and *that* red card against Arsenal, the Frenchman is United’s second highest rated player on WhoScored. Pogba has ten assists this season and has scored thrice in 23 games. And yet the critics keep talking and speculating.

So the only way for Pogba to kill all the doubts about his future is by putting in a dominating performance like we all know he is capable of. Pogba put in a good performance off the bench in United’s midweek Champions League tie against Sevilla. And he followed that up with an impressive display against Chelsea, keeping N’Golo Kante’s hands full as United claimed an important win.

Everyone knows that Pogba is one of the few players who can make a difference to any given game. So while all the speculation is unfortunate, Pogba must show his adversity and rise from it. Pogba has the potential to become the greatest midfielder in the world, and all he needs to do now is to let his performances on the pitch do the talking.
