Tottenham player ratings at Palace: Sanchez and Dier dominate
Heung-Min Son-6.5
The South Korean was surely disappointed not to start this match, but he was a bright spot for Spurs off the bench. His insertion into the match gave Tottenham’s attack real width. That was a key factor in opening things up for Kane’s goal.
It is fair to wonder why Pochettino didn’t trust Son to start this match. My suspicion is that he chose to go with Lamela to make sure that his defense didn’t leak without either Toby Alderweireld or Jan Vertonghen in central defense. That might have been an overly conservative call by Pochettino, but you can’t call it illogical.
Lucas Moura-6
Tottenham’s newest acquisition continues to make a case for more and more playing time. He’s likely a few weeks ago from being fit enough to start a Premier League match, but that day is coming for Lucas.
In this one, he changed the match immediately with his willingness to take the ball and run at Palace defenders. Nothing really came off for the Brazilian attacker, but he upped the tempo for his teammates. That was a crucial factor in earning Spurs all three points.
